After almost 1,5 year being here at Naughty Dog, I can finally proudly present the project I've been working on this entire time. 'The Last of Us'.
It's been a blast so far! Working with Bruce Straley (Game Director) and Neil Druckmann (Creative Director) is by far best professional experience I had in my entire career.
Take a look at teaser trailer that was shown for the first time on VGA's 2011 last Saturday. And below, two of many concept artworks I've done for the project.

Dude... wow. Care to share a few words on the process?
Agree with Kan! Great work from you Maciej as always!

keep it up, great fan.
These still look so good!!!! The trailer looked good, maciej. Congratz man!!
Looks pretty cool!:0)I like environment !:0)
Kan, these were done the same way as most of other environment concepts I shared over last year. Comes down to block-mesh from designers and nailing down the mood with directors, then color paint to get the lighting in place and photo-texturing the entire thing. And tons of tons of painting and touchups :)
great atmosphere :)
Yuuuup, this is awesome stuff...can't wait for more on this title!!
wow, they look completely like the shots in the trailer. Fantastic artworks!
Simply stunning Maciej! (as always)

Thanks bud, most people have no idea how difficult it is to work that way.

Fantastyczne. Sam bym duszę oddał by pracować z takim studiem jak Naughty Dog :) Wątpię, aby dało się sobie wyobrazić jak się czujesz!
Fantastic! I would sold my soul to be in your place :) I barely imagine how you feel!
Incredible attention to the subtle details. Keep up the amazing work Maciej!
Robi pan swietne grafiki .
Amazing! If you don't mind, could you share how long was the entire process for a piece takes in the studio usually?
@Randize - it depends. there is alot of back and forth with design and directors, especially when your piece is supposed to set the style of the game. I cant remember how much time I spent on these to be honest. But if to take aside any discussions, iterations and others input, counting only rendering time, it would come down to couple of days.
Thanks Maciej! This is useful because sometimes when we juggle some work for production, the deadline is really tight. But as you said, some piece that needed to set the style of the game really can't be rushed.
So good. Love these paintings.
I love those concept paintings Maciek! The detailing is mad! I always wonder looking through work like that how much space does the game directors gives you? Do they specify how many cars they want scattered around for example? Or specify car types?? I general how much freedom do you have as a concept designer on a game like this? Teaser looks wicked! Pozdrowienia
These stills look so good!!!! I like your imagination. Keep updating the blog with new pics...
